❝ I've got to become even stronger and more resilient. ❞

And because the wikia cuts off about halfway through its summary—

✿ KYOTO ARC — Following busting Rin out of jail, the group sets out into the mountains toward where the Impure Kind has been revived and where Bon's father has gone in order to fight back again it. Finding him, they discover the high priest has been badly wounded and unable to continue with his task. His familiar and the mantra needed to erect the barrier around the Impure King is passed from father to son. Bon and Rin take off to handle the revived demon while Konekomaru and Shima leave to reach the group of exorcists gathered at the base of the mountain, leaving Shiemi and Izumo to care for the wounded head priest. As the fighting continues, the girls finally stabilize Bon's father enough to move him toward help back in the city and set off to do so with the help of Izumo's familiars. Unfortunately, the miasma reaches them and captures Izumo. Although the lack of confidence she gave herself had all but blocked off her summoning ability the want to no longer be weak, to save Izumo and be together with everyone finally allows her to call on her familiar once again. She pushes herself to her very limit in rescuing who she considers one of her friends, admitting that even if Izumo hates her that she still likes her classmate a lot.

In the end, the Impure King is defeated and, thanks to Rin's flames, everyone is purged of its poisonous bacteria. Shiemi is even able (even with her intense embarrassment) to tell Rin that she'll be his friend forever and ever. The "forever friends" declaration, if you will. The group ends their time in Kyoto by seeing the sights or in Shiemi's case with trying every local food she can find.

✿ KRAKEN ARC — Instead of heading back to Tokyo as planned, the group is called to assist on a mission in Atami and sets up on the beach to wait for their target—a kraken. It appears and things go from bad to worse when Rin takes off wanting to save a helicopter under attack. Shiemi tries to stop him but ends up being dragged along with the ride. Their boat falls under attack and Shiemi is knocked unconscious but thankfully saved by Yukio. The twins and herself find themselves on an island known for the worship of Wadatsumi, an ancient water deity. As it turns out, Wadatsumi or rather Amamitsu Hiko isn't hard to find once Shiemi befriends a Sea Monk (think of them as kin to Greenmen) and the trio find themselves with a mission to serve the old sea god so he might get the strength back that he needs to protect the sea.

It goes better than expect and certainly worlds better than the current relationship between the brothers. She finds herself in the middle of a very heated argument that begins to realize that really, none of them are perfect even Yukio who she has viewed as perfect in the time they've known one another and like all of them—he's probably chasing after something too. Despite everything, she urges the younger twin to have a proper chat with Rin and excuses herself. Although captured by the kraken, she is quickly able to free herself and negotiates with the Sea Monk for help on behalf of the group as the sea god battles it out with the kraken.

The creature is defeated thanks to everyone's combined efforts and Amamitsu Hiko passes away. They enjoy what time is left on the beach by making squid yakisoba before heading back toward Tokyo and home.

✿ FESTIVAL ARC — School life continues on as usual for the exorcists in training. For Shiemi, this means tending to the shop when not at her cram school classes. In order to help a friend, the group of Esquires are required to find out about the school's seven mysterious. These range from ghosts unable to pass on because of regrets, to evil ghosts holed up in the girls' bathroom and her home actually ends up being on the list as an unreachable location. Because the mayuko, a type of evil ghost, in the bathroom only appears to female—it's up to Shiemi and Izumo to spearhead the assignment. As it turns out, the hostile ghost in the bathroom is likely the embodiment of women's ugly thoughts and it certainly shows. Being the harvest festival, Izumo's familiars don't care to help but Shiemi is able to help reach an understanding by offering them paddies of rice and requesting their assistance. Although she is captured by the spirit and almost choked to the state of unconsciousness, Izumo is able to work with her familiar to destroy the spirit.

Shiemi thanks Izumo and to her surprise, Izumo admits that it should be her thanking Shiemi instead. Needless to say, the idea of growing closer to other girl delights her. Also the boys dressed in drag as back up to fight the spirit, it's terribly hilarious.

Their final assignment in the seven mysteries takes them to the hall of portraits. What should be an easy assignment becomes difficult when the group is unable to work together and Rin rushes forward to destroy the portrait. As it turns out, a demon (surprise!) was actually possessing not one but three paintings and in order to destroy them they all needed to be on the same page. This means all getting on the same page which they are able to do with the help of Konekomaru and his strategy. The assignment over, Shiemi's focus returns to something else important to her; long-distance courses. Having spent her life afraid of crowds and people, Shiemi was never able to attend school regularly and work through courses at home instead with Yukio as her tutor. It's with the final round of courses that she is able to final to apply and attend high school with everyone else, entering as a first year and just in time for the school festival.

She finds out about the festival dance party and how it can only be attended by couples, she decides she wants to invite someone. To Rin's dismay, she wishes to invite Yukio and for the simple reason that she wants to him to have the chance to relax. Unfortunately, she is turned down, worried for Yukio but instead putting her focus instead into her class's haunted house and running flowers to the festival for her family's shop. She meets up with Rin and he leads her to Yukio, the pair asking the younger to dance before dragging him away. The trio dance (which is mostly just spinning around in a circle) and she manages to have something of a great, if brief, time with the twins. This all ends suddenly when they are ordered by Shura to locate Izumo with Shiemi hurrying to locate Paku, Izumo's one friend and roommate.

As it turns out, Izumo is wanted by the Illuminati—an organization led by the King of Light, Lucifer and who wish to unite Assiah and Gehenna. They declare war on the Order and reveal that in one year's time, they will revive Satan and bring him into the world so that true peace might be attained. As they leave, they destroy the barriers that surround the campus town and expose it to numerous demons. They are then ordered by Mephisto to track down Izumo and bring her back with Rin stating they will not only bring her back but Shima as well.

✿ ILLUMINATI ARC — Their destination is Inari in the Shimane Prefecture, Izumo's hometown. Shiemi promises Paku to rescue Izumo and believes in Konekomaru when he admits that despite Shima's apparent betrayal, he still believes in his friend. Arriving in Izumo's hometown, it has become a tourist destination filled mostly with food and information about the local shrine. Calling on one of Izumo's familiar, the group is able to learn about both her past and her ties to the land. Her family was charged with caring for the "life-taking stone" which was a spirit stone that kills any living thing who approaches, and revives any dead thing. The Kamiki family was thus in charge of quelling the curse of the Nine Tails that hung over the stone and Izumo's mother was their current high priestess. Her mother came to be possessed by the Nine Tails and in desperation, Izumo called on the help of the Illuminati who had visited the shrine earlier.

Her mother is captured with Izumo and her little sister also being brought into custody. They promised to protect them but with only had one purpose in mind—to have vessels for the Nine Tails if their mother were to die in their attempt to gain the demon's power for the creation of an immorality elixir.

Knowing the pain that Izumo has been taking on alone simply determines Shiemi even more to help save her and bring her home. They launch an attack on the laboratory entrance but are not met with an Illuminati force but instead come face to face with the "experiment failures" of the immorality elixir or zombies. Surrounded, they are dropped into the "feeding rooms" in the Illuminati's attempt to capture the twins and the others designated as prey for the remaining experiment failures. Shiemi is knocked unconscious in the fall and thankfully wake up just in time to not be eaten by the chimera zombie let lose into her cage. With Nii-chan's powers, she is able to escape her cell but growing a tree in the decaying zombie's body and reunite with the others. Just as they start moving to escape a massive creature set loose on them, Shiemi spots Izumo crossing nearby and calls out to her.

Although Rin is able to reach her, she rebuffs their attempt to rescue her and continues toward the experimentation room with the intent to call out the Nine Tails. Rin battles Shima while the group is forced to retreat on Kuro in an attempt to escape the advancing monster and rescue Izumo. Finally reaching her, they find her in a state of demonic possession and already losing her body to the demon she had called out from her mother. With the demon in full possession, only her mother is able to help and the Esquires work to defeat the zombies closing in on them. Taking the demon back into her body, Izumo's mother dies and the Nine Tails dies with her. With the lose of his test subject, Gedouin submits himself to a demon and becomes a necrophager. Izumo, reunited with her familiars she thought had been killed, asks for the groups help so she might destroy Gedouin in his current state.

Shiemi protects Izumo's mother as her friend chants, performing the exorcism but unable to fully destroy Gedouin given his own success from the immortality elixir. With Izumo safe, they prepare to escape and are greeted just in time by their backup. The group is sent to a nearby hospital for rest with Shiemi and Izumo able to have a heart to heart after the other girl is able to finally see her younger sister. Although they've both lived different lives, they're companions and Shiemi is glad that Izumo is finally able to smile, laugh and cry since she had always hidden it away before.

In the aftermath of everything they find out something else, Shima is a double spy and had infiltrated the Illuminati on behalf of the True Cross Order.

✿ CURRENTLY — Returning to school, everything is seemingly back to normal until Shima reappears at cram school and says he is there to stay for now. Needless to say, he gets a beating from just about everyone before Mephisto appears and transports them to his office in order to for Lewin Light aka Lightning to test whether or not Shima can be trusted. The class admits to trusting him and Shiemi wonders if everything can go back to normal but with Bon unable to deal with the situation, admits that there is no chance of that ever happening. For their service, the group is offered a chance to go to a bath house and relax. Although the girls manage to have fun, the boys cause enough trouble and end the trip with having to pay heavy damages.

Still, Shiemi and Izumo are able to talk and both agree to come to the bath house again with Paku. Back in class, they are informed that their examination exam to become full-fledged exorcists will be held earlier than usual. Shiemi, meanwhile, is unable to help worrying for Yukio who she feels is beginning to push everyone away from him.
Personality:
To know Shiemi, it would be hard to ignore the constant smile on her face or the positive attitude she seemingly takes toward everyone and everything around her. She adores making friends and keeps an optimistic outlook while sharing her love of nature with anyone that will listen. Although she might not always get someone's jokes or understand popular culture but Shiemi is loyal to a fault. She was absolutely always be there if needed or called upon.

It wasn't always so noticeable, of course. For the majority of her life, Shiemi has lived as a shy and weak-bodied girl sheltered away from interactions with the world outside of her family's shop dedicated to serving exorcists for the nearby True Cross Order. Since she never attended school, Shiemi lacked the normal sort of interactions with children her own age or the needed real world experience that everyone goes through when growing up. So instead of socializing with friends, her time was instead spent familiarizing herself with medicinal plants and their uses with her grandmother being the one real constant in her life.

Because of this sheltered upbringing, Shiemi can sometimes come off as both naive and gullible. Her heart can become so very set on some plan or ideal that she does not take the time to truly consider what someone is offering her. Namely, she doesn't consider if the offer is good for her too if she considers herself at all. In the aftermath of her grandmother's death, she unwittingly falls into the hands of a demon posing as a fairy simply because it promised to help her keep her grandmother's garden alive. When she later begins classes at the cram school, she does not see the extremely malicious reasons why Izumo suddenly agrees to be her friend or that friends do not treat one another in the manner she was just accepting. At times, her nativity can blind her but it does not stop her from pushing forward in her pursuit of bettering herself and reaching her goals.

After all, despite her sometimes naive nature, Shiemi is absolutely devoted to her friends and utterly determined when she sets her mind to something. She wishes to be of use to her friends and the people around so means never giving up despite the odds. Her determination can come off hopelessly optimistic but she has fought and struggled toward proving herself capable. Even if the odds are stacked against her, she won't give up without a fight now and pushing back with everything she knows. When Rin is sentenced to be executed and locked away, Shiemi rushes to help him without a second thought. Later when they are facing down miasma from the highly dangerous Impure King, Shiemi does not once consider leaving Izumo's side until the other girl is freed and out of harm's way. Even when Izumo is shouting that she hates Shiemi, she climbs her way up to the girl and tells her how much she doesn't care because Shiemi nevertheless still likes her a lot. She might stumble or even fall along the way but as she grown, so has her determination to see things through and protect those that she cares about.

Her self-sacrificing nature isn't always a good thing. As mentioned, she can sometimes be so focused on other that she does not put any thought into her own well-being. On the other hand, she can so be preoccupied trying to fix problems that she does not consider the other person or their own problems. As she's continued working as an esquire and toward becoming an exorcist proper, she has begun to learn how to think about how she can help those around her without sacrificing her own thoughts or well-being in the process.

She isn't afraid of admit these things either. As it was put once, Shiemi is "as bold or rather shameless as the weeds" with her honestly and ability to say how she is feeling without worry. Where someone might be offended to be compared to weeds, Shiemi takes the words to heart and admits she loves weeds. Her want to be strong like the weeds helps to foster a new growth of confidence in her and bring about the courage she needs in harder times. Honestly, confidence is something she struggles with a lot and continues to struggle with now. She's come a long way, of course but at times she can still find herself doubting her worth or skills in comparison to her more talented classmates. Nevertheless, she has been shown to be incredibly hardworking in order to allow her confidence to grow. She studies hard and pushes herself into situations that would have once been impossible for her like getting angry, going to school and being more open with her feelings. She's naturally a curious about everything, now unafraid to try new things and willing to learn if the situation should present itself.

It's hard work but she is continuously working toward remaining confident in herself and upping her self-esteem. And if she does happen to fail? That's okay! Before she might have retreated away in embarrassment at her failures but now she has begun to learn that it's alright. No one is perfect and it's okay to try again!

Friendship, if you couldn't figure out, is extremely important to Shiemi. As mentioned, she is both loyal and dedicated to them even in the face of danger but it wasn't always so simple. Her main motivation upon entering cram school was to make friends and Izumo Kamiki was the first friend she made on her own. Although Izumo used and took advantage of her in the beginning, this has grown into something resembling a proper friendship as the story progressed. They highlight one another's strengths and weakness, helping each other grow even if they don't always realize it. The other girl's vitriol nature certainly makes that hard to see at times but Shiemi is dedicated to Izumo and works hard to prove that. When Izumo is kidnapped, Shiemi is unstoppable in her want to get her back and throws herself into the mission with everything she has. In the end, she admits that as long as Izumo can cry, laugh and get angry at her then she can be happy because that means Izumo is being true to herself.

Her other important relationships come from Rin and Yukio. Although her first meeting with Rin was rocky, he helped her to realize the importance of not letting grief control her life and saved her from a demon praying on her heart-broken stare. When his heritage became known, Shiemi ran away from him not simply out of fear and because she believed she was a bad friend. After all, shouldn't friends know everything about each other? She struggled a lot to figure out how to reconnect with him but in the end it worked out. Like Izumo, Rin pushes her to be more open and stronger. She was even able to make her declaration to be his friend 'forever and ever' much to her delight. Yukio, on the other hand, was her first friend ever and she cares deeply for him. It's because of him that she was even able to enter True Cross as a student and she is forever thankful to him for tutoring her. Still, she has begun to worry as he separates himself further away from them but is unable to approach the topic. Still, Yukio is the one who (unintentionally) helped her to realize that utter perfection wasn't something that truly existed and that everyone, even the people she so admired, had their own problems to work through.

Overall, Shiemi is still growing and forever learning about the world around her. Still, she is utterly determined to see things through and better herself. At times, she can come off naive or clueless but she works hard to right her mistakes. She still struggles with her confidence but has come a long way from the girl that hid away from everyone and never wished to venture outside of her garden. She extremely hardworking, loyal and filled with kindness with a new found courage to push herself further than before.
